Made in the months following a life-altering tragedy, In the Shadow of this Mountain is a series of photographs made along the many winding backroads of New Hampshire that serve as a topography of grief. Often created at night, the images are frequently impenetrable and elusive, withholding more than they describe. This lack of context creates a feeling of existing outside of reality, the non-realness reflecting the experience of losing touch with life after the death of oneself.
The book consists of 31 photogravure prints on Rives natural paper, hand-bound through taped signatures. Black Asahi Mohair fabric was used on both the covers of the book and the matching slipcase. Garamond Light textblock was used to stamp the spine of the book and the cover of the box. Completed in 2025, the book exists in an edition of 4.
